Walk and Roll for Love

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (ABC4 Utah) — 1000 patients, family and the Shriners Hospital community will be participating in the annual ‘Walk and Roll for Love’ event this Saturday. It’s a one and a half mile journey to show their physical condition doesn’t hold them back.

12-year-old Bella Shelton, from St. George, has scoliosis. Doctors recently attached a metal ring to her head with pins called a Halo to help straighten her back. In just two weeks, she’s grown 2 and a half inches.

Mandy Reynolds, Mother, “I know, I know it’s so awesome!! It’s a great motivation that everything they’re doing is spot on.”

It’s progress and miracles like these, that doctors and staff provide at Shriners Hospital.

That’s why Bella and her family will be participating in the hospital’s third annual ‘Walk and Roll for Love’ event hosted by Big O Tires this Saturday.

It’s the largest fundraiser for the hospital that provides life saving and life changing care to children.

Dawn Wright, Shriners Hospital, “no limits is a common phrase at Shriners Hospital and it will be on full display with more than 100 patients with orthopaedic conditions participating in an 1.5 mile walk or roll in their wheel chair or adaptive bike to meet their physical challenges. The doctors will be here, the neighborhood will be here. Shriners will be here all wanting to raise awareness. It’s events like this that allows us to provide care no matter the ability for a family to pay.”
